deer trail . . .
black flies swarming
but not yet biting
blooming in time
for his memorial
my neighbor’s cherry
spring drizzle
somewhere in the dark
a phoebe calling
low balance alert
the river
between its banks
a chipmunk’s cheeks
stuffed with bird seed
spring yard work
a wet mink
bounds up the riverbank . . .
catkins in bloom
maple flowers . . .
the flared crests of kinglets
in combat
even a squeaky wheel
arrives on time
black-and-white warbler
pulmonaria
breathing deep the perfume
of earthworms
pink moon rising . . .
the first fried smelt
straight from the pan
late frost . . .
kitchen table tulips
touched by moonlight
