solstice birthday
five yellow butterflies
dance in the sun
late afternoon light . . .
butterflies bend
the goldenrod
the end of summer
a question mark
punctuates the asters
golden milk . . .

the cafe window

at the tip-top
of the ironweed
fritillary
frittering away
my lunch hour
great spangled fritillary
reeling
among the fairy houses
little wood satyr
first touch of frost
my long shadow
flushes a butterfly
right here
a monarch tastes
some asters
a monarch also
giving it some attention . . .
