winter is coming
I play god
with the patio plants
fall foliage
the crane’s red crown
flesh not feathers
continuing drought
the colorful leaves
too much like fire
persisting drought
a tabby cat blends in
with the riverside weeds
family phone call
my niece interrupted
by a rainbow
grouse season
the sharp reports
of falling acorns
winter moths
under the porch light
I air-hug my parents
frost warning
spiders come inside
with the geraniums
old growth
the ghost of a fallen tree
shrouded in moss
rooster sunrise
the jaunty red plumes
of the sumac grove
grey seals in surf
the tingling skin
of my selkie self
