pine shadows . . .
ferns brush the car
on the road to camp
a gull waits
on an empty picnic table
pea-soup fog
baby apples
beginning to redden
a catbird’s rambling song
clamor of gulls —
wildfire haze
veils the mainland
night vision
amid all the satellites
a falling star
morning cool
my toes pluck a sprig
of white clover
the whine
in a young crow’s voice
unripe blackberries
morning light
a fishing boat’s hum
shifts as it leaves the harbor
first cicada —
the weathered green door
of the artist’s studio
gathering clouds
a meadowhawk pauses
at the path’s edge
summer morning . . .
a hunting dragonfly
reaches the moon
