the prickly state of the globe thistle
Sunday sun
Japanese beetles mate
on the basil
over the meadow
one dragonfly becomes six
high noon
summer rain . . .
a cardinal still singing
somewhere upriver
frittering away
my lunch hour
great spangled fritillary
for a moment
I stop what I’m doing . . .
first cicada
midsummer viburnum
between flowers
and berries
visiting
my neighbor’s peach-pink poppies
a honeybee and I
sun-warmed strawberries
the catbird fledgling
looks just like its parent
parking lot wildflowers . . .
I catch a dragonfly
with my phone
morning haze
peony ants circle
my cereal bowl
