days of rain
green light of new leaves
replacing the sun
too distracted
to know what to say
swaying willow boughs
song sparrow
an old friend’s voice
on the telephone
shining with flowers
my neighbor’s crabapple
three backyards away
azalea buds
the passing shadow
of a vulture
tiny paper heart
held by a spider web
we all need love
early rain
vireo asking about
an umbrella
Today’s haiku is thanks to my friend Stacey, who gave me most of the poem in an email after we had to cancel a bird walk together this morning. I love how her words express the querulous song of the vireo.
just in time
the catbird returns
music to our yard
whistling duets
with a chickadee
first leaves
budding poplars
any day now
a hummingbird
counting herons
from the open car windows
spring salt marsh
