first blackberries
the soft sweet songs
of waxwings
onshore breeze
the exhalations of seals
chasing mackerel
meteor shower
a cardinal’s last burst of song
as we go to bed
dog days
air heavy with the scent
of crushed basil
a rain crow’s call
drops spilling over
the windowsill
A “rain crow” is a folk name for the Yellow-billed Cuckoo
soft morning rain
after weeks of silence
the robin’s song
just-picked raspberries
passing the prime
of our lives
mating damselflies
the teenager can’t resist
a wisecrack
summer twilight
on the lawn the rabbit
from the moon
summer Zoom meeting
the backyard birds
refuse to mute
summer grove
only the sound
of the chipmunk
