Election Day
raking again
the wind-scattered leaves
the darkness
grows even deeper
Day of the Dead
awake and anxious
about my nasturtiums . . .
killing frost
Samhain moon
the scope view blurred
by our shivering
the time of night
we wait for ghosts
winter moths
on the suet
the year’s last warbler
my mind wanders
searching other planets
for signs of water . . .
frost on the pumpkin
the solidity
of certain clouds
your hand on mine
lurid glow of leaves
a crow flies off
with a dead mouse
morning sun
on the porch rail
a new coffee ring
blue jays
among yellow leaves
all the eye needs
