some pears in the press
to sweeten the cider
fall equinox
an oyster shell
left on the oldest headstone
island cemetery
harvest moon
the tide heaps seaweed
under the fish house
fogbound
a plover’s high call
lost in the waves
sunrise spotlights
a tree’s last apple
flight calls of warblers
spruce needle rain
she leads me further
down the trail
following the sun
into the sea
Venus
catching
the first light
yellow warbler
restless wind
flickers ricochet
from tree to tree
flat calm
the sudden bluster
of blue jays
half moon
her sly smile visible
in the dark
