spring snow
the masseuse tells me
to research the throat chakra
clinging to the dead tree
we left up for woodpeckers
spring snow
working
on a Sunday . . .
spring snow
new moon knowing you won’t read this
in loving memory of Tobey Levine, dear friend and longtime supporter of my haiku blog
ah spring spring
how great is spring!
and so on
—Matsuo Basho (1644-1694), translated by Jane Reichhold
first day of spring
hoping tonight’s snow
is the last
—me
a few snowflakes . . .
roadside pussy willows
stretch across a ditch
cusp of spring . . .
the ring of vegetables
dropping into a pan
sun after rain
the river strays
into the neighbor’s yard
the river swells
with more rainwater . . .
snowdrops
wind eases open
the rusty garden gate
first grackles
March gusts —
sand sifts through
a broken snail shell
