after sunset
trying to hear the surf
June bugs
crescent moon
sinking into the surf
late cries of gulls
harbor seals
neither here nor there
island crossing
sweet pea tendrils
coming to understand
their least resistance
my sister’s birthday
lilac’s fragrance stronger
after the rain
purple finch singing
the color of rhodora
in the fog
swifts overhead
and the scent of lilacs
all I need tonight
morning mist
bumblebee barely rising
from the azalea
beaver pond
the patterns of water
that lead to the lodge
catbird’s shadow
or the catbird itself
amid the new leaves
so much rain
the blown-out umbrellas
of dandelion seeds
