rattling around in my head kingfisher
cold front . . .
a garden spider
tethers the woodshed
oppressive heat . . .
a dove looks down on us
from the roof peak
the unmown lawn
crawling with woolly bears . . .
heat haze
whorled aster
the shallow stream’s unseen
current
this aging body . . .
mossy rocks mark
the dry stream bed
wild blackberries . . .
calls of waxwings multiply
in the canopy
hiding in plain sight tree frog
Grey Tree Frog (and Small Milkweed Beetle), Merryspring Nature Center
golden milk . . .
a monarch floats past
the cafe window
twilight—
the cat’s intense stare
at nothing
buttered toast . . .
a flurry of finches
before the rain
