polar vortex
the inflatable Santa’s
open arms
feels like snow . . .
one goldfinch shoos another
off the feeder
burnished fields before the snow buntings
atmospheric river
the length of the seal
rolls underwater
trailside goldenrod
thunderstorms blooming
on the weather map
gathering clouds
a meadowhawk pauses
at the path’s edge
a thrush’s song
deep in the woods —
storm clouds pass us by
gale warning
a blossom-white apple tree
rustles with waxwings
snow to rain
the briefest glimpse
of a phoebe
yelling at a squirrel
through the back window
spring sleet
spring chill . . .
the colorful bloom
of protest signs
