rain softening
old snow — one crow
preens the other
new snow
shadows of birds pass through
shadows of trees
waiting for a call-back
from the doctor’s office
morning flurries
waist-deep drifts . . .
across the frozen marsh
an owl looks back
morning snowshoe
the deer have been
everywhere
wicked early
a crow waiting
with snow on its bill
snow glare
how many bears
asleep up on the mountain
a flock of horned larks
scattered among beach rocks
drifting snow
the crow
wipes its bill on a branch
snow angels
all-night snow
the neighbors leave
their lights on
sideways snow
a cardinal cedes the feeder
to his mate
