the sound of someone
one step behind me
falling leaves
migrating sparrows the subtle flowers of witch hazel
migrating flickers . . .
the burning bush
fully engaged
migrating cranes . . .
the swampy end of the pond
the reddest
mums in a bucket
chimney smoke drifting
sideways
high surf
the morning perfume
of the last wild rose
first frost
a flicker perches
on a propane tank
storm surge—
a passing eagle
lifts all the gulls
nocturnal flight calls
horizon to horizon
the Milky Way
the smoothest beach stone
seals waiting offshore
for low tide
late afternoon light . . .
butterflies bend
the goldenrod
