June rain
greening
the river rocks
back home —
some peonies have escaped
their cage
the song sparrow’s outside voice azalea garden
a redstart’s sweet song . . .
rain-wet petals cling
to my hands
following a deer trail
to the beaver pond
deer flies
late light the glowing constellations of viburnum blossoms
morning coffee . . .
we open a window
to the grosbeak’s song
heat index
the unexpected orange
of a neighbor’s azalea
along the path
to an old cemetery
scent of lilacs
first bird of the morning evening grosbeak
sunset chill
the ghost of a pheasant
glides down the trail
