yellow leaves . . .
one crow keeping watch
for two others
at large
the sharp reports
of falling acorns
witch hazel flowering . . .
a crow calls in
another crow
flagging light
fallen leaves hide
the welcome mat
a ticket stub
in an old coat pocket
another autumn
late October rain the endless loop of chipmunks
migrating geese
the way they fly
in any poem
this field an altar burning leaves
crowsong
the afternoon staccato
of acorns
memorial bench . . .
yesterday’s rain fills
the etched letters
the red of maples
framing the solar array . . .
deepening chill
