two crows
close together on a bough
cold solstice
dog days . . .
crows in leafy shade
with beaks wide open
afternoon haze
the incessant whining
of young crows
long road trip
the quantum leap
of crows
all-day snow
a flurry of crows
around the perched hawk
wing prints in snow . . .
somewhere upriver
a chorus of crows
chill of nightfall
a few last sounds
from the crow roost
snow glare —
a flock of crows orbits
the perched hawk
second day
crows carry off
their tribute
planning the day
over breakfast
backyard crows
early dark
hundreds of crows
streaming to their roost
