a catbird upside-down
in the elderberry
lingering heat
rustling poplars
a cuckoo slips unseen
from the thicket
cirrus clouds
a new moon tide
resets the wrack line
sunset chill
the monarch’s silhouette
as it flutters to roost
dinner party
a bird fluttering
at the lamp-lit window
slow swells
one by one gulls
lift out of the fog bank
small craft advisory
a porpoise hiding
in every wave
nip in the air
a squirrel carries off
the sunflower’s head
the pulse of dawn lobster boats
the sky slips into autumn blue chicory
morning chill
keeping the warblers
to myself
