golden hour
arranging bits of cheese
to entice a crow
view from the farmhouse
now a forest —
old cellar hole
deep woods wherever I am here
burying the goldfinch . . .
leafless branches clack
with each gust
sunlit trail
a phoebe’s shadow
flags a beech trunk
finch breeze—
a neighbor’s pink sheets
flap on the line
goldfinches the cacophony of spring snow
ice lingering in the cove . . .
the white rumps of geese
tipped up to feed
a kinglet’s song
lost to the wind
fairy ring
empty flower pots filling with robinsong
new moon
an oyster spat attaches
to wharf piling
