A variation on yesterday’s haiku
a friend waves
from the departing ferry . . .
heart-leaved aster
heart-leaved aster . . .
the departing ferry
dips in the swells
rocked by waves
what happens
when we die
morning fog
the ferry emerges
from another world
heat haze
a porpoise rolls through waves
without a splash
summer breeze . . .
the ferry captain’s voice
carries from the harbor
storm swell
gulls dipping in and
out of sight
whitecaps . . .
a gannet dips
below the rainclouds
rolling seas
a new perspective
on seabirds
after the whale
all the waves
that look like whales
rolling swells . . .
the ferry captain announces
a bald eagle
