Today’s haiku was also my response to the prompt I created for a post to my Facebook group, Virtual Haiku Workshop. (If you’re on Facebook and interested in joining, please send a request through the group page!) The prompt was to write a haiku using the first line “fresh-fallen snow.”
fresh-fallen snow
still the river
doesn't hesitate
the fullness of time
for a moment the clock face
is the moon
post office line
the holiday music
of ringtones
winter morning
plugging in the tree
till sunrise
winter twilight
empty wasps’ nest
a paper lantern
waking alone
big snowflakes drift
slowly down
slowing down
the white farmhouse
on red barrens
understory
reading between the lines
of tree trunks
cat nap
blinking in the lights
of the Christmas tree
mist lifting off
the mountain ridge
winter scarf
