field grasses
a green-eyed dragonfly
pauses on a stem
Saturday morning…
a distant lawnmower
and a rooster
parting clouds
a sundragon perches
in the tall grasses
rain all day
a family of crows
explores the lawn
picking my way
along the riverbank
yellow iris
longer days
a chipmunk’s incessant
alarm calls
river glare
the changeable voice
of a catbird
full moon tide
the end of the breakwater
washed by waves
hay-scented ferns
a host of white moths
rising as we pass
nine-minute silence
the many variations
of a robin’s song
rumors of fireflies…
a glimpse of the moon
before it sets
