late summer . . .
empty mussel shells
litter the lake shore
bloodwork
she tells me
I have good veins
expecting rain
at any moment
poplar leaves
witch’s butter . . .
a bridge where trolls
await their toll
dragon horn lichen
pill bugs flee
the fallen fairy house
late-summer wren song
dismantling
the fairy house
hazy sunset
on the doorstep the glow
of summer squash
evening primrose
the see-saw of a goldfinch
and his song
morning heat
the neighbor’s cat waits
under our feeders
pond-side bench
conjoined dragonflies
join me
grasshopper weather . . .
a face-off on the trail
with a white hen
