winter mist
delicate flies drift
into a window
sea smoke
a ferry arrives
from another world
squirrel tracks in snow
balsam sap perfumes
my work gloves
last Christmas . . .
a pattern of oak leaves
on fresh snow
waning frost moon . . .
the home health nurse
leaves her car running
sun on fresh snow
tracks of those who didn’t wait
for morning
first snow
a long line of cars stuck
behind the salt truck
December rain . . .
a crow caches a scrap
under some leaves
extended vigil . . .
winterberries glow
in morning mist
bleary moon . . .
startled awake by something
running across the roof
new ice . . .
crows follow a mink
along the riverbank
(Alas, seen by my husband, not me)
