river glare —
three fledgling crows
harry their parents
heat wave . . .
swerving to avoid
the smashed turtle
morning heat
the lawn ripples
through old window glass
restless wind
a whiff of pipe smoke
in the empty house
a fat muskrat
tunnels through marsh grass
first day of summer
summer solstice
beginning and ending
with catbirds
all-day fog
purple irises
crowd the doorstep
longest day
a singing vireo
outlasts the rain
cirrus clouds . . .
the lawn mower scares up
a white plume moth
sun on yellow irises . . .
a chipmunk sips
from the koi pond
summer breeze . . .
the ferry captain’s voice
carries from the harbor
