downpour
a robin’s dawn song
drowned out by the river
rolling seas
a new perspective
on seabirds
leaf buds unfurling the ecstasy of chimney swifts
spring runoff
the spillover
of birdsong
circling the lot
for a place to park
snowy egret
first mowing
free-range guinea hens
forage as a flock
Sunday drive
two herons slowly flapping
toward low tide
joyride
coltsfoot brightens the shoulder
of deadman’s curve
Beltane
coveting my neighbor’s
flowering magnolia
May Day
the crow ignores
store-bought blackberries
a chickadee first
to try the new birdbath
spring wind
