a constant parade
of goldfinches
rainless sky
thistles loosing

At the Wild Graces haiku gathering in Deerfield, NH yesterday, Toji Kaido Perlman’s shakuhachi performance inspired many haiku. Here’s a trio of mine written in the moment, as he played zen pieces called honkyoku.

ironweed leans
into the tent

the high notes
