zesting a lemon
for the teacake —
winter wrensong
evening news —
the worm moon shines
through a stained glass window
Note: The Worm Moon is a name for the March full moon.
new snow
shadows of birds pass through
shadows of trees
warm spell
the ash tree’s
runic bark
cabin fever
paging through photos
of leaf buds
dawn flurries —
smoke already rising
from the ice-fishing shack
grey afternoon
less to say
than the river
it’s always something
crows relay calls up and
down the river
a run of red lights
on the drive home from work
late winter stars
waiting for a call-back
from the doctor’s office
morning flurries
clear and cold
pigeons huddle
on the roof’s sunny side
