window frost
by the time I get home
Venus has set
open water
alongside the ducks
a crow gets a drink
ten degrees
in the dark beyond the window
a dog barking
winter river
slowly the black duck
not a rock
snow-shoveling
the house finch’s long song
thaws my mood
local color
the red ice-fishing shack
fills with stories
daytime moon
the way crows stand out
in fresh snow
heavy with snow
the backyard : the sky
so white
storm warning
a flock of mallards
flies upriver
mammogram
shifting storm clouds reveal
the hilltops
winter rain
quickly the cat
changes her mind
