clack of bare branches
a doe with a fawn
still trying to nurse
rare bird stakeout —
each of us shares
a snowy owl story
last leaves falling . . .
a barge slowly pushes
up the bay
another ocean in the dark Orion’s Belt
Fata Morgana
the ferry crosses
to a floating world
spruces darkening as twilight deepens coyote howls
end road work
sunset blazing
in the rear-view mirror
scarves of mist . . .
gold of a tamarack
at the bog’s edge
late-season vultures this tilted planet
feeding the bear inside me early dark
feels like snow . . .
one goldfinch shoos another
off the feeder
