birdsong
an arctic tern
on an island of seaweed —
wind takes someone’s hat
terns dip
into a school of fish . . .
summer reverie
a dory adrift
in a sea of daisies
onshore breeze
one-room school
the door frame filled
with penciled heights
daylily sun . . .
the rooster crows
to his last days
summer heat . . .
ants cluster
on a melon rind
morning ferry
porpoises slip in
and out of fog
a gull flies over
with a lobster claw
summer heat
new moon
a luna moth clings
to the porch screen
Take 2:
new moon a luna moth’s invisible pheromones
high noon
a firefly pausing briefly
on a fern frond
